Until recently, as a result of the state of the Covid-19 epidemic, there had been a ban on the movement of people within the territory of the Republic of Poland, which was lifted on 20 April 2020. In addition, since 4 May 2020, boaters can use the services of ports and marinas, both those for sail boats and kayaks.

The Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 2 May 2020 allows the use of external infrastructure for water and motorboat sports or recreation. Ports and marinas may carry out their operations involving their external infrastructure such as piers, gantries, sewage collection and energy provision systems, parking services, etc. However, taverns and restaurants still have to be closed. The Regulation does not address sanitary facilities.

As part of the second stage of de-freezing the economy, it is possible to practice water recreation activities according to the following guidelines:

  • up to a maximum of 2 people – external infrastructure for water sports: kayak, boat, pedalo,
  • when using an open-type infrastructure, the following safety rules shall apply:

– maintaining social distance,

– the obligation to cover one’s face (when arriving at a given sports facility; however, there is no obligation to cover one’s face when staying on e.g. a pitch),

– a limited number of people,

– verification of participants (notifying the site manager of persons entering the facility),

– no possibility of using locker rooms or sanitary facilities (except for toilets),

– disinfecting equipment after each use and each group,

– obligatory disinfection of hands by people entering and leaving the facility,

– using personal training equipment or disinfecting after each use.

One should also keep in mind provisions found in the regulation by the Council of Ministers of 19 April 2020 regarding, among other things, the temporary limitation of certain types of business activity, the order to move in a specified manner and the obligation to apply prophylactic measures.
