On 18 – 20 September 2023 in Poznań, a study visit took place for signers of the agreement for development of the Polish section of International Waterway E70. This was attended by representatives of the voivodeships: Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Kujawsko – Pomorskie, Warmińsko – Mazurskie, the host Wielkopolskie Voivodeship as well as representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and local governments.
On the first day in the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, there was a meeting of participants, among whom were the Marshals of the above-mentioned regions. The discussion concerned the most important activities undertaken in 2023 on IWW E70 as part of its revitalisation and promotion. The participants exchanged their experiences and intentions for the future. Representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure presented current information on policy formation for the sector of inland waterways and water management. Investments planned for implementation within particular voivodeships representing IWW E70 were discussed. There was heated discussion of difficulties and problems that the IWW E70 team must face, but all the participants were convinced of the appropriateness of further activities of this inter-regional initiative for the development of inland waterways in Poland.
On the second day, there was a visit of a section of IWW E70 on the Noteć River, in the area of Czarnkowo, where there was also a meeting with local governments and the Association of Towns and Municipalities by the Noteć. The guests visited the town’s marina, built in the framework of the Wielkopolskie Regional Operational Program, and familiarized themselves with the power generation potential of the river at the Rosko Hydro-electric Plant.
