IWW E70 TEAM MEETING ON THE ŻUŁAWY LOOP

A meeting of the International Waterway E70 Working Team took place on 28-29 August 2017 in Krynica Morska, Poland. The meeting's attendees included: Jerzy Wcisła – Polish Senator, Krzysztof Grabowski – Deputy Marshal of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, Sławomir Kopyść – member of the Executive Board, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, Ryszard Świlski – member of the Executive Board, Pomorskie Voivodeship, Krzysztof Roman – Deputy Director, RZGW Regional Water Management Authority, Gdańsk, Marian Kidaj – Director, Office of Inland Navigation, Gdańsk, Zbigniew Ptak – head of Nowy Dwór County, representatives from the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, Maritime University of Szczecin, Ministry for the Territorial Development, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russian Federation, and the partner voivodeships (provinces) in Poland.

PROSPECTS FOR INVIGORATING THE RUSSIAN-POLISH-LITHUANIAN SECTION OF INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY E70

On Saturday, 5 August 2017, a conference was held in the town of Sokolniki, district of Gvardeysk (Russia), at Langendorf Castle; it was entitled International Waterway E70: Problems, Prospects and Opportunities. The forum was attended by the representatives of the Kaliningrad Oblast, Russian Federation (RF), federal agencies, guests from neighbouring countries, sailors and tour operators.

WRAP-UP OF THE THREE MARSHALS’ CUP REGATTA 2017

On 6-8 July 2017, the Kaliningrad Lagoon saw the 8th edition of the Three Marshals' Cup International Regatta. This year, the race had a record-breaking number of ca. 200 sailors on 53 yachts from Russia, Poland and Sweden.

A promotion and research container voyage on the Vistula from Gdańsk to Warsaw was held on 19-27 April 2017, as part of EMMA, an international project on "Enhancing freight mobility and logistics in the Baltic Sea Region by strengthening inland waterway and river sea transport and promoting new international shipping services" (Interreg BSR).

INLAND WATER TRANSPORT AT THE 4TH FORUM ON THE BALTIC-ADRIATIC TRANSPORT CORRIDOR

The 4th Forum on the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor, 21 June 2017, Gdańsk, was dedicated to the development of cities in the context of urban nodes and the development of inland waterways (the Year of the Vistula). Experts, economists and logistics specialists discussed the opportunities and problems on the Baltic-Adriatic transport corridor as a competitor for transport routes west of the Oder. This year, the Forum was organised by the Union of Maritime Cities and Communes, which is part of the Local Government Agreement for the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor.

THE THREE MARSHALS’ CUP INTERNATIONAL REGATTA WILL BE HELD FOR THE EIGHTH TIME

On 6-9 July 2017, the waters of the Kaliningrad Lagoon will see the 8th Three Marshals' Cup International Regatta, which this year will be combined with Kaliningrad Days. Next to its sporting dimension and the promotion of sailing in the borderland areas of Russia and Poland, the event is also aimed at consolidating the relations between the people of our regions. The event is organised by: the Governor of the Kaliningrad Oblast Anton Alikhanov, the Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Gustaw Marek Brzezin, and the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk.

ŻUŁAWY LOOP ON RADIO GDAŃSK

On-board a houseboat sailing through the Żuławy Loop, the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship recapped the Żuławy Loop project for the journalists of Radio Gdańsk. The project to develop water tourism was launched with a resolution of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Executive Board ten years ago.

IWW E70 AT THE MARKET TOUR TRADE SHOW, SZCZECIN

On 13-14 May 2017, the 26th edition of the Market Tour Tourism Fair was held in Szczecin.
