On September 8th, 2016, the chances and threats related to the construction of stepped falls in the lower section of the Vistula were debated by the participants during the scientific municipal conference on inland waterways in Poland. The workshops took place during a cruise from Grudziadz to the Vistula estuary.
The Regional Water Management Authority in Gdansk announced that from March to November 2017 the water gate in Przegalina will be closed. Sailors, water sports lovers, and others will have to face the water gate's closure in Przegalina for the whole summer season, from March to November. This means that it will not be possible to get to Gdansk through the Vistula. During this time those wanting to get to Gdansk through the Vistula and the Zulawy Loop will have to use the Bay of Gdansk and Wisla Smiala waterways.
The 7th Three Marshals' Cup International Regatta was held from 30 June to 3 July in the marinas of Tolkmicko and Frombork. The regatta was subdivided into three races. The sailors competed in the waters of the Polish part of the Vistula Lagoon, in varying weather conditions.
Third International Exhibition and Conference on Water Management and Inland Shipping WaterWays Expo 2016 was held from 16 to 18 June at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. The trade fair was solemnly opened by Marek Gróbarczyk, minister of water economy and inland navigation, who also assumed the honorary patronage over the event.
On Tuesday, June 14th, 2016, in the section of the Notec between Czarnkow and Romanow, constituting a part of the E70 International Waterway in the Wielkopolskie Province, a cruise promoting the waterway and inland navigation was organized.
At the session of 14 June 2016, the government approved the document concerning the development strategy for inland waterways in Poland entitled "Assumptions for the development plans for inland waterways in Poland for the period 2016-2020 with the perspective until 2030". The document was approved in the form of a resolution.
"Lubuskie rivers – opportunities and barriers" is the subject of the Second Tourist Provincial Assembly of the Lubuskie Province held on June 13th, 2016, in Zielona Gora. At the meeting of the assembly the potential of the water tourism of the Lubuskie Province was presented on the basis of E70 and E30 international waterways. The attending discussed the issues related to the transportation and inland tourism, as well as the possibilities to develop the navigability and tourism on the Polish rivers, the rivers of the Lubuskie Province in particular.
From June 30th to July 3rd, 2016, the waters of the Vistula Lagoon in the vicinity of Tolkmick and Frombork will hold the 7th Three Marshals' Cup International Regatta. The event will be organized by Gustaw Marek Brzezin, the Warminsko-Mazurskie Province Marshal; Mieczyslaw Struk, the Pomorskie Province Marshal; Nikolai Tsukanov, the Governor of the Kaliningrad Oblast; Andrzej Lemanowicz, the Mayor of Tolkmick; and Malgorzata Wronska, the Mayor of Frombork.
On June 1st, 2016, in Torun there took place a meeting of the representatives of provinces that are also signatories of the letter of intent related to Revitalization of the E40 International Waterway (Warminsko-Mazurskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Pomorskie, Mazowieckie, and Lubelskie Provinces) and the signatories of the agreement concerning the Revitalization of the E70 International Waterway (Warminsko-Mazurskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie, and Lubuskie Provinces), with Jerzy Materna, Minister and the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation; Robert Kesy, the Vice President of the National Board of Water Management; and Senator Jerzy Wcisla.
