On the initiative of the Local Government of Pomorskie Voivodeship, the Declaration of Cooperation on the development along the International Waterway E70 in the territory of Poland was signed on 5 August 2006 in the village of Kąty Rybackie (Pomorskie Voivodeship) during a sailing rally which was taking place there.
On 25 and 27 July 2008 in Kadyny (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship) a conference was held, titled "IWW E70 Forum". It was the third meeting of marshals of the six voivodeships located along the International Waterway E70: Antwerp - Berlin - Bydgoszcz - Gdańsk - Kaliningrad - Klaipeda. The meeting was also attended by a large panel of experts, mainly working on the InWater Programme, and representatives of water-related institutions and organizations. Among the participant were also an official delegation of the German Land of Brandenburg and representatives from the Netherlands.
On 30 June 2007 in Krynica Morska (Pomorskie Voivodeship), the Marshals of the voivodeships concerned confirmed details of their cooperation by signing the Memorandum of Signatories regarding: cooperation with regions outside Poland located along the IWW E70, creation of interregional policies to coordinate the use of the IWW E70 potential with a view to economic development, removing navigational barriers, development of water junctions, revival of water tourism, flood protection and development of inland water transport.
On 21 April 2008 in Gdańsk, a course of actions was initiated in effort to revitalise waterways for inland freight and passenger transport in the delta of the Vistula River and the rest of the waterway E70. The conference, titled "Economic revitalisation of the Vistula River Delta region through development of inland water transport", was met with great interest from politicians, local government officials of Pomerania, Warmia and Masuria regions as well as from academics. The meeting was organised at the initiative of Jan Kozłowski, Pomorskie Voivodeship Marshal, and Jacek Protas, Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Marshal.
On 25 and 26 March 2008 in Smolarnia near Trzcianka (Wielkopolskie Voivodeship) a conference and workshops were held on "Revitalisation of the International Waterway E70 in Poland for the purpose of water transport development". The goal of the conference was to assess the present condition of inland navigation and transport on the IWW E70 as well as to collect information on all activities promoting water tourism.
The publication titled "Development of the International Waterway E70 in Poland for the purpose of water tourism" issued by the Marshal Office of the Pomorskie Voivodeship is a collection of articles and speeches presented at the Conference on the International Waterway E70, held on 8-9 November 2007 in the Castle of Gniew.
