On 14 December at the Senate of the Republic of Poland, a meeting was held on the issues of development of the lower Vistula. The event was initiated by Senator Jadwiga Rotnicka, President of the Parliamentary Group for Waterways and Water Tourism. At the meeting, participants presented initiatives to revitalise inland waterways in Poland, undertaken by the local governments of the voivodeships.
On 13 December 2012, a conference was held titled "IWW E70. Opportunities for tourism and transport", combined with an opening of the exhibition on the International Waterway E70, organised by the Regional Office of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Marshal's Office in Elbląg.
On 7 November 2012, a seminar was held at the European Parliament in Brussels, titled "Inland Waterways – all hands on board - how to improve transport connectivity in Europe?". At the seminar, the Letter of Intent regarding cooperation for economic revival along the proposed IWW E40, section Gdańsk-Bydgoszcz-Toruń-Warsaw, was re-signed and submitted to Marc Vanderhaegen (European Commission).
The Marina in Bydgoszcz is one of the most impressive projects of this kind along Polish waterways.
On 5 October 2012, on board the ship Wanda travelling on the Włocławek Reservoir, field workshops were held on the issue of waterways in Poland. The event was organised by Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and President of Casimir the Great University in Bydgoszcz. The workshops were attended by representatives of the academic community, local and central governments, and business people.
On 4 October, a conference was held in Tczew titled "The IWW E70 and its maintenance aspects - inland waterways in need of proper administration." The pretext for the conference was the planned amendments to Polish Water Law, which give rise to the question of how these changes would affect the development of inland waterway transport in Poland.
From 19 to 21 September 2012, the first edition of Waterways Expo 2012 - International Trade Fair and Conference on Inland Waterway Transport and Water Management was held in Wrocław.
On 4 September 2012, another meeting of the Cross-Regional Working Team for the IWW E70 was held. The session took place on the cruise ship Wanda travelling on the river Vistula along the city of Toruń.
On 14 July, President Bronisław Komorowski and First Lady Anna Komorowska visited the sailing marina in Błotnik, Cedry Wielkie commune, built partly from the European Union funds.
