On 27-29 June 2019, on the waters of the Vistula Lagoon around Frombork and Krynica Morska, the tenth Three Marshals’ Cup International Regatta was held. Despite unfavourable weather conditions, the regatta was attended by 23 crews in senior classes and 30 participants in junior classes, i.e. Laser 4.7 and Optimist.
On the first day of the regatta, with quite a strong wind, one long race around Frombork was held.
After the competition, sailors went to the port of Tolkmicko. On the next day, weather conditions again made it possible to hold a long race. This time, its venue were the waters around Tolkmicko and Krynica Morska.
Races in senior classes were divided into three groups (KWR 1, 2 and 3). The winner in the first group was the crew sailing the yacht “Litwinka 2”, which had participated in the Three Marshals’ Cup from the very beginning. The winner of the second group was the crew of the yacht “Berbeć II”, while the crew sailing the yacht “Wega” won in the third group. Additionally, the Red Lantern Cup, founded by the Mayor of Tolkmicko, was won by the “Fordewind” yacht crew.
The Vistula Lagoon with changing weather conditions was also the scene of young sailors’ competition. During the two-day event, nine planned races took place. Yachts happened to capsize, there were losses in equipment, and emotions were high until the last race. In the Optimist class, the beginner’s group “O” as well as groups A and B were won by sailors from Amber Sail Kaliningrad. The winner of the Laser 4.7 category was a student of the Baltiysk Sports School.
WIt is worth mentioning that the Three Marshals’ Cup Regatta offers not only sporting emotions and the promotion of sailing in border regions of Russia and Poland, but it also aims at strengthening relations between people of these regions and activating water tourism. The official guests of the tenth edition of the regatta included Deputy Governor of the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation – Mr Alexander Rolbinov, Consul of the Russian Federation in Gdańsk – Mr Victor Kolesnikov, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Kaliningrad – Mr Miłosz Zieliński, Deputy Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship – Mr Marcin Kuchciński, Deputy Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship – Mr Ryszard Świlski, Mayor of Frombork – Mr Zbigniew Pietkiewicz, and Mayor of Tolkmicko – Ms Magdalena Dalman.
This rally is not only a great sporting contest; above all integrates enthusiasts of adventure under sails. The atmosphere during the event was maintained by bands performing on stage, including Atlantyda, The Nierobers, Perły i Łotry.
The 11th edition of the Three Marshals’ Cup Regatta will be held in the Kaliningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation.
