This project is complementary to the investment plan of the Municipality of Krynica Morska entitled “Żuławy Loop – extension of the yacht port in Krynica Morska” and both these investment projects are part of a strategic project entitled “Development of water tourism offer in the area of the Żuławy Loop and the Gulf of Gdańsk”.
The project involves the extension of the existing pier and the lengthening of the wharf together with securing the embankment in Krynica Morska. The Passenger Pier, which is currently about 100 m long, will be extended by 65.5 m. The width of the port entrance will be 38 m, which will result in a reduction of water waves inside the port. The extended pier will provide mooring space for small passenger ships (the white fleet) and vessels of the Maritime Office in Gdynia. On the section running from the corner of the existing pier base towards Gdańska Street, a 50.0 m long berthing quay will be extended. Further on, towards Gdańska Street, the eastern bank and the northern bank will be reinforced. Additionally, a new paved surface will be made in place of the current shared space on a 194 m long stretch. There will be a car park directly next to the exit from Gdańska Street. The total value of the project is in excess of PLN 13.2 million. The project will be implemented by the end of 2022.
Let us recall that so far, under Measure 8.4 “Support for the attractiveness of natural heritage assets” (including the investment project of the Maritime Office in Gdynia), 53 agreements on co-financing were signed for a total amount of over PLN 351 million, of which over PLN 217 million is EU co-financing. Owing to funds from RPO ND 2014-2020, three strategic tourist initiatives of the Self-Government of the Pomorskie Voivodeship are being implemented:
- Pomeranian Kayaking Routes (26 projects), the aim of which is to make water routes accessible to kayakers and ensure their safety by expanding and improving the standard of tourist infrastructure, especially that designed for kayaking, as well as making cultural and natural heritage of the areas along the Pomeranian rivers accessible to kayakers.
- Pomeranian cycling routes of international significance, including R-10 and R-9 Vistula Cycling Route (13 projects). Within this project, the following cycling routes will be built: R-10 – along the sea, from Ustka through Łeba, Władysławowo, Trójmiasto (Tricity) and Krynica Morska to the eastern border of the voivodeship, and the Vistula Bicycle Route, which is part of the R-9 route – through Żuławy Gdańskie, Tczew, Gniew and Kwidzyn to the southern border of the voivodeship.
- Development of water tourism offer in the area of the Żuławy Loop and the Gulf of Gdańsk (14 projects). As part of this initiative, a modern sailing infrastructure will be created: marinas, platforms with gangways and bank reinforcements, roads with parking spaces, hybrid lighting and monitoring systems.
