The thirteenth edition of the Marshals’ Cup regatta organised jointly by the local governments of the Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships is behind us. Partners of the regatta were the Town of Frombork and the Elbląg Regional Sailing Association.

Participants competed in four categories: KWR1, KWR2 KWR3 and the best-attended OPEN. Weather conditions on the Vistula Lagoon were perfect. In good wind and sunny weather, one long race was run. Although the event was of a sporting nature, amateurs also took part in it. More than 104 sailors on 29 yachts competed and 27 yachts completed the event.

In the KWR1 group, the winner was the yacht “Mote” skippered by Krzysztof Kubus. The runner-up was Marian Drabinski’s “Litwinka”, followed by “Studio Line” with Jan Pieciukiewicz in third place. Mieczyslaw Trzpis on “Zorba” proved to be the best in the KWR2 group, ahead of “Palomino” skippered by Stanisław Justynski and Sławomir Kwiatkowski on “Blue Breeze”. In the KWR3 group, the winner was “Lula” skippered by Tomasz Siekierko, ahead of ”Szafir” with Henryk Malentowicz and “Facil” with Tomasz Kubicki. In the OPEN Group, the fastest was Zbigniew Dąbrowski on “Easy Rider” ahead of Cezary Wesołowski on “Cezi II”. In third place came “Felicia” with skipper Mariusz Kaleba.

This event is not only a great form of sports rivalry, but above all a great fun for lovers of adventure under sail. There were gifts, cups and prizes for the competitors taking part in the regatta. The regatta was an important part of Frombork Days celebrations, which were organized for the twenty-first time. The three-day event featured concerts, theatrical performances, tours of the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum and night sky shows.

It is worth mentioning that this year’s edition of the Marshalls’ Cup Regatta was held in the rebuilt port of Frombork. The harbor basin has been enlarged, and the condition of hydrotechnical structures has been improved. Now more vessels can call at the port. The new quays have a higher permissible payload – 20 kN/m2, and are also deeper – 2.5 meters. In addition, wharf equipment has been replaced, the slip has been rebuilt and other elements of technical infrastructure have been taken care of, including connections, lighting and hydrants. Breakwaters have also been reinforced.
